About this exhibition

Vividly coloured and created on an epic scale, Sir Terry Frost’s abstract work has long thrilled viewers and been applauded by art historians. Since the 1960s he has been recognised as one of the most important British post-war artists, a painter who responded to American abstraction in the 1950s and developed a highly individual vocabulary of shapes and themes. He spent much of his working life in St Ives, Cornwall, creating alongside artists such as Barbara Hepworth, Roger Hilton and Peter Lanyon. This exhibition celebrates Frost’s joyful paintings and collages.
